I've been MIA for a super long time, but successfully finished my first year teaching! I absolutely LOVED it and can't wait to start my second year. :)
Last year I was dying for some whisper phones to help with reading fluency, so I decided to make some today! I've always seen the idea on Pinterest & some of my co-workers have done it themselves as well. They seem to work great are really sturdy too (way better than the premade, over priced ones)! I got more specific instructions from the blog http://teacherificfun.blogspot.com/2013/02/diy-whisper-phones.html. So props to this lady!
And of course, I had to drag good 'ole Dad along with me on this journey :)

Our journey of course began at Home Depot! |
I found a 10ft. long 3/4in PVC pipe for around $2. Then asked this very nice man to cut them for me :) I thought they had some type of machine for this, but apparently he just had hand held clippers and poor thing was sweating by the end...very thankful for his help!
While he was cutting, I also found the "end" pieces for the phones. Around $2 per bag.

I made 25 whisper phones, so I bought 5 of these bags (only about $10 total!) |
Final step...put them together! This is where my dad was particularly helpful.

I had a second helper as well, but she was caught sleeping on the job. |
After about 45 minutes of building (we were perfectionists with the tape!), viola! Great new tools for my classroom :)

Thanks for reading & be on the lookout for more posts! Hoping to be more consistent with my blogging this year...but we'll see :)
