My First Post of the '13-'14 School Year!!

Alright people, it's finally come to that time...I HAVE MY OWN CLASSROOM! I'll be teaching 1st grade at a Catholic school in Nashville! And back by [semi] popular demand is my teaching blog :)  As you can see, I've started a completely new FIRST GRADE blog and revamped the look from my 3rd grade blog.  I also intend on posting at least once a week this year and to actually finish posting throughout the whole school year - I was close last year, but didn't quite make it!  Here's to a second try :)

I'm sure you can tell I'm super excited to have my own classroom! Although last year was technically my first year teaching (and with an amazing mentor and group of 8 yr olds), this is my first year on my own! :) Prayers appreciated ;)

Yesterday was my first official day on the job as the new 1st grade teacher.  The primary grade teachers met together and we received our class roster.  As if that wasn't exciting enough I got even more great news - as of now I have 14 first graders! Talk about a great number!  I'm so excited to meet these sweet guys and gals in just a few short months.  Before I meet them, I get to send out postcards to them introducing myself :)

Here's the set of postcards the school provided :) We get to mail them out in late July.

 Yesterday I was also able to meet Tammy, the other 1st grade teacher.  She's made a great impression and has been super helpful to me already.  We were even able to get back into my classroom today to start arranging furniture!  I'm very thankful to be able to get such an early start in my classroom, especially since I'm constantly traveling back and forth to finish up my grad classes in Knoxville (yuck).  Here's some pictures of my classroom before anything was touched.  I'm going to wait to do the final reveal of my classroom when it's all done :) (clearly that will be a while).
